My Dad was a great dad. He isn’t here anymore. He went home to be with the Lord on December 28, 1988. I had just given him his Christmas gift, a record of his favourite singer, Slim Whitman. It had a song on it, ‘Blue eyes crying in the rain’, that Dad would often sing to Mom. We sure did love Pops.
Dad loved camping, fishing, the great outdoors, gardening, and his family. To Dad family was everything. He sacrificed and gave up so much for his family. I remember one Sunday lunch around the table, we had all had a chicken leg that had tasted just awesome, cooked mom-style! All of us, except dad. There was one leg left. I so wanted that last chicken leg even though I had already had one. Dad reached over and picked up the last leg. I watched on, all forlorn, and then to my great surprise, he placed it on my plate! Classic Dad!!
He faithfully passed those wonderful values on to us. I still love getting out into a forest or standing next to the Fraser River with my fishing rod or waking up to the smell of campfire smoke and coffee, and I sure do love and treasure my family!
Dads, we appreciate you so much. We appreciate all that you do for us. We appreciate your sacrificing heart, your father-style love, and the way you reflect the Father’s Heart to us. We appreciate your AWESOME JOKES (see below for some knee knockers) and the way you provide for us. Dad, you are amazing!

And the best one for last…
