Please remember “New Westminster EFC” – our LPD “Church” of the Week. Thanks to Anna (Ben) Crumback at Sointula Community Church for producing the Church of the Week!Dear friends, Good Friday morning – on Wednesday…Today, Karen and I head towards Manning Park for our annual camping trek. We have camped there for at least 34 years straight, and we have weathered sunshine (rarely), rain and more rain, thunderstorms, torrential rain and even hail. Why you ask, do we go? Well, first off, Karen is a good sport; and we both love hiking, the wildflowers in the subalpine, the wildlife, canoeing and fishing. We also love to appreciate God’s creation and feel that we are stewards of what He has entrusted to us as his created people. I am always amazed at the adaptability of God’s creation to harsh climate and conditions. I see evidence of his creation and of the interdependence of creatures, plants and insects. In the subalpine, within just a few weeks, many plants will be exposed to the sun for only a few weeks, after being buried in snow for months and covered again in September or October. During these few weeks, the plants will be baked by sun, whipped by high winds, and hopefully have the energy to grow, flower, be pollinated and store up energy for another year. Such tenacity to survive gives real meaning to the phrase, “bloom where you are planted.” And so goes our calling as God’s people. We cannot control our circumstances, but we can control how we respond, adapt and flourish. At our district conference, I spoke of the symbiotic relationship between church plants and established churches. In God’s creation, a symbiotic relationship occurs when two organisms, individuals or groups of people work together by helping one another with the intent of getting help in return. To read more about this, please click this link to this week’s Five Minutes on Friday with the LPD *** LPD Women in Ministry Facebook Page. Karen has set up a Facebook Page, and invites all women church ministry staff and pastor’s wives to join. The purpose is communication, encouragement and prayer for one another.
