Greetings on this day before the May long weekend. With Spring upon us, we are entering the season when schedules become more and more flexible and people are coming and going.
Late spring is an excellent time to review the year and to prepare for the fall season. (I hope that this doesn’t sound depressing). Our LPD Board will be doing this as we meet next week. As ministries wind down for the season, please take some time to reflect on how the season has gone for ministries and how they do or do not contribute to your church’s mission. Then you can begin to plan for the season ahead. If we leave this until July and August, we will find that it is even harder to get people together and the felt need to start ministry will not give time to reflect.
Thom Rainer, in his book Simple Church, suggests a rather straightforward resource for reviewing church ministries, how they align with one another and how they contribute (or not) toward the fulfillment of the church’s mission. I attach a diagram for you – the book is also a good read!
Is your church a movement or a museum? Here is a link to a challenging video that speaks to this question. Please watch it – it is a challenge to all leaders of all ages!
There are many encouraging signs of God’s fresh work right in our district churches! Watch in the weeks ahead for stories of God’s work in district churches in the weeks ahead. Weekly, I am hearing stories of people coming to Christ, and we would like to share some stories with you!
