Five Minutes on Friday with the LPD – have you had a summer checkup?

Good Friday morning from the LPD!

Hello friends – I trust that you have had a good first week of August.

August is that in-between month. While some are still heading out on vacation, the Back to School sales have started already. It is still mid-summer, but the count-down to the fall kick-off of ministries has begun.

As we live in these “in-between” days, it is a good time to reflect on how we might live, serve and lead differently in the season ahead. Gordon MacDonald offers us some helpful encouragement to this end in his article, “Your Regular Checkup.”

Please also see the attached Five Minutes on Friday, with news and prayer items from the LPD – this week, please be praying for Camp Evergreen, our LPD sponsored summer camp for children and youth. This camp meets at Camp Charis, near Bridal Veil Falls, and has many campers from district churches.

Please note the following dates:

• This week! – Camp Evergreen. This local summer camp is affiliated with our Lower Pacific District, and provides an excellent summer camping experience for children and leadership training for youth. Camp Evergreen also provides an opportunity for partnership between your local church and a summer camping program. For info, please see here.

• Wednesday, October 28 – LPD Pastors and Staff Cruise! Pastors and church staff – please plan to join us for this day of fellowship and learning together.

• November 6,7 – A Workshop on Christian Sexuality. Hosted by Fort Langley EFC, this workshop, with Christopher Yuan will be both insightful and helpful in equipping people towards a biblical understanding of current issues and also towards more effectively ministering to our neighbours. Please watch for details in the weeks ahead.  

• March 4,5 – 2016 – LPD Conference on the theme Coaching and Mentoring.
